FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I'm not sure what the best course of action is for my situation. How can you help me?
We offer a free 30-minute in person consultation. After you explain your situation to us, we'll give you the best routes to take, balancing between time, cost, and probability of success. You don't have to make a commitment during that time - we are here as your source of legal advice.
You may learn more about our consultations here.
What if I live too far away to drive to your office?
Whether you cannot drive or you live in a different state/country altogether, we are prepared to handle your case and communicate efficiently through phone, Skype, WeChat, LINE, etc. In fact, over 60% of our clients do not live near our office in Los Angeles.
What should I expect during an appointment?
We will listen to your situation and give our best consultation derived from 30 years of immigration cases. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have. It is also a chance for us to introduce ourselves and show you why we make a big difference.
What should I bring to an appointment?
If you know which case type you want, there is a basic checklist of documents we will need for each case type on our services page. You may refer to that list, though many documents will not be immediately necessary. If you are not sure what case is right for you, bring your basic information (ID, passport) along with any related documents (i.e. marriage certificate for I-130 petitions). If you're unsure, bring the document.
How does the legal fee process/cost work?
We need a deposit before we can start your case. Our deposit fee is generally 1/3 of our legal fee, listed on our services page. All legal fees you deposit will be in your personal trust fund and withdrawn only when we work for you. If you decide halfway through that you would like to discontinue the case, we will refund the unused deposit.
If there are additional costs, such as responding to Requests For Evidence, obtaining expert opinions, and requesting documents from the government, we will obtain your approval before billing you. You will know how your money was spent to advance your case.
Conclusion of Services
When our services conclude or are terminated, all unpaid charges shall become immediately due and payable. Upon your request, we can deliver your file, along with any of your unused funds or property in our possession back to you.
Do you put liens on houses?
No, we do not put liens on houses. Liens are rights to keep possession of a property until a debt is paid off, which many attorneys require permission to perform when signing retainers/letters of engagement. We work based on your deposits; if there are insufficient funds, we will contact you to resolve the issue.
Are there any guarantees or assurances? How do I know you provide great service and quality value?
We can't make guarantees or assurances, but we spend a lot of time nurturing and personalizing your case to give you a better chance of a successful case. It is the steps we take as part of your family that gives us such high referral rate and successful cases.
Do you have liability insurance? What if you make mistakes?
You can be assured that we have $100,000.00 of Liability Insurance coverage in the unfortunate event of any mistakes we make on your case. We promise to do whatever it takes to remedy our mistake at no additional cost.
What happens at the end of the case?
At the conclusion of services, you, our client, will take home all legal filings we have performed. We provide a full complete copy and electronic copy for you without additional charge.
Do you perform notaries, authentications, translations, credential evaluations, or court document retrievals?
Yes, we have qualified professionals that perform the listed services along with other legal services listed on our comprehensive list. You can click on each service to see the process, checklist, and cost.
